I am an Instructional Technology Coach for the Tuscaloosa City Schools in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I served all 13 elementary schools in the system my first year as a coach. This year, I serve 6 schools and have the help of Amanda Walker from Hoover City Schools. She a great addition to the team.
I spent 5 years teaching Pre-Kindergarten through first grade for TCS and within that time, my passion and advocacy for children, their families, and the teaching profession has grown tremendously.
Teaching and learning should bring joy. How powerful would our world be if we had kids who were not afraid to take risks, who were not afraid to think, and who had a champion? Rita Pierson said it best, every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.
I am the oldest of four and the mom of two Yorkies, Noah and Sassy. Noah passed away in March of 2013. I have two nephews, Tyler and Tristen. When I am not with loved ones, I am home catching up on my favorite TV shows (one being The Golden Girls), kickboxing at 9Round, traveling, or reading.
